Tomassini è un artista che propone un’Arte relazionale o partecipativa. In realtà lui la chiama Arte interattiva, poiché questi suoi lavori sono opere che possono, anzi devono subire delle vere e proprie metamorfosi grazie all’intervento del pubblico.
Mr. Tomassini is an artist who proposes a relational or participatory art. He really calls it interactive art because his works can, indeed must, undergo true and proper metamorphosis thanks to intervention by the public.

“Durante un viaggio a Londra effettuato nel 2005, pur profano d’arte, ho colto l’occasione per visitare la Tate Gallery. Sono stato particolarmente colpito da una didascalia, apposta vicino a un quadro, che riportava l’età dell’autore: ottantotto anni. Ho pensato quindi che una delle poche cose piacevoli che si potevano fare anche in età avanzata sarebbe stato dipingere. Latente dentro di me c’era sempre stata l’idea di avvicinarmi all’arte. Ho deciso quindi di iniziare, seppur a sessant’anni compiuti. Il lavoro mi ha sempre portato a vivere nel mondo del design, quindi delle linee, dei volumi, delle proporzioni e dei colori.”
“During a trip to London in 2005, even though ignorant in art, I took the occasion to visit the Tate Gallery. I was particularly struck by a caption near a painting which reported the age of the artist: eighty years. So I thought that one of the most pleasant things one can do in old age is to paint. Latent inside of me was always the idea of approaching art. So I decided to start, even at the age of seventy. My work has always been in the world of design, of lines, volumes, proportions and colours.”
